Let us know in the comments if you like these new Maschine mappings for Traktor’s remix decks, or if you will be using them in your DJ sets. While they do not provide full colour feedback like the Kontrol F1, the group buttons flash while samples are playing, and the pads are dimmed where no samples are loaded, providing limited visual feedback, and Maschine’s screens provide a lot of useful visual feedback. These new Maschine mappings control two remix decks at once, as opposed to a single remix like the Traktor Kontrol F1. We also compare and contrast using these new Maschine mappings with using Native Instruments’ Traktor Kontrol F1, a dedicated controller for one remix deck. In this tutorial, we show how to set up and use these Maschine mappings using Controller Editor and Traktor Pro’s newer, cleaner, and easier controller manager. This allows us an enormous amount of control over transitions based on effects, even on individual loops. Remix decks also allow us to turn effects on and off for each of the set’s four columns, as demonstrated in the video. This also allows us to loop the entire remix deck while changing the material (the individual clips) out from under the loop. Using Punch mode, we are able to use the remix decks to move between different loops without re-triggering or restarting them. Using the faders and filter on each column, we are able to transition more smoothly. However, since we have our deck set up with kicks, snares, hats, and everything else on separate columns, we are able to separately trigger and move between different parts of loops. However, simply triggering different parts of a single pattern all together isn’t really making use of the deck flavor in that the same thing could be accomplished with cue points and loops in track decks. Other than one-shots, launching clips, Ableton Live style, is one of the most obvious ways to use Traktor’s remix sets. This tutorial covers introduces using loops in remix decks. ![]() Mixing in Traktor – using sync (or not) and beatmatching
